This is a magnificent example of an Oak Stationery Cabinet of moulded form, manufactured and retailed at the end of the 19th century by the renowned stationers, Messrs Parkins & Gotto at their premises at 24,25,26,27,& 28 Oxford Street, London.
The interior consists of a massive stationery section, which can accommodate almost all sizes of note & business paper & envelopes, a whiteboard writing slate, a pair of brass screw-top ink bottles, an ebony straight-edge ruler, calendar cards and a silver watch in good working order. The caddy containing the calendar & watch is removable and can be used as a stand-alone unit. There is storage space under the calendar & watch caddy for a book or a file, which can be easily lifted out by means of a fitted wooden frame.
The fitted drawer is secured by a brass rod.
The lock is in good working order.
